Dear StackShare Community,
George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor all died from the same disease: racism. The culture of white supremacy and police brutality that led to their murders is undeniable and people all across the US, including myself, are angry, frustrated, and grieving. Unfortunately, the list of black men and women who have died for no other reason than the color of their skin, goes on and on, and will continue to grow if we all don't do something about it.
I believe that supporting non-profit organizations that have dedicated their lives to fighting against racism on behalf of Black people is one of the best ways to take immediate action. So members of the StackShare team and I have donated to an organization that is doing incredible work: Equal Justice Initiative
We've been encouraged by the response from our tools community: over 30 of the top developer tools companies and orgs, both SaaS and open source, have voiced their support for the #BlackLivesMatter movement this past week. A handful have taken that a step further and taken action by also donating to organizations fighting for Black people, including AWS, HashiCorp, LaunchDarkly, Okta, and Stripe. A select few have not only donated, but are actively matching donations from the public and their communities; so if you're able to, please consider contributing and your donation will go even further:
To bring more awareness to everyone's efforts, we've put together a running list of all the dev tools supporting the BLM movement on GitHub
. We're proud of how our collective community has stepped up during what feels like a turning point in US history.
Together, we can chip away at this disease and get justice for George, Ahmaud, Breonna, and so many more.
